Boulder – Boulder is the most populous city of Boulder County with just under 107,000 people living in the city (28 square miles).
More than 30,000 of those residents attend the University of Colorado at Boulder. Boulder is located at the base of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains(at an elevation of 5,430 feet) only 30 minutes (25 miles) northwest of Denver. Boulder is surrounded by thousands of acres of recreational open space (the city owns more than 45,000 acres of mountain and plains open space with more than 200 hiking and biking trails), conservation easements, and nature preserves. Boulder’s historic downtown features the Pearl Street Mall, an award-winning pedestrian shopping, dining, and entertainment destination.
Broomfield – This city of 75,000 residents (living in 33 square miles) is midway between Boulder and Denver.
Boulder Valley’s 3rd largest city, which has the distinction of being its own county, houses some of the area’s largest private sector companies (CenturyLink, Vail Resorts, Inc., Oracle, and more). Flatiron Crossing has more than 2 million square feet of mall shopping.
Erie – This town (of 32,000 people in 20 square miles) located just West of Interstate 25 has an award-winning community center, 20,000 square foot library, new schools, and scenic trails. It spans both Boulder and Weld County. This is one of the towns with a lot of new development planned over the next decade.
Lafayette– The city of Lafayette is located in southeastern Boulder County, with 30,000 residents and an area of about 10 square miles.
The town’s main street, Public Road, is lined with locally owned shops and restaurants, and plays host to annual festivals including the Quaker Oatmeal Festival, the Summer Fun Fest, Peach Fest, Celebrate Lafayette, and Home for the Holidays. Located at the crossroads of Colorado Highway 7, U.S. Highway 287 and the Northwest Parkway, the city continues to attract commercial growth.
Longmont – Longmont is located in northeastern Boulder County and extends eastward into Weld County. Almost 95,000 people reside in the 22 square mile area.
Louisville – The city (of 21,000 residents in 8.6 square miles) has easy access to Boulder and Denver. Louisville has its own recreation center, sports leagues, dog park and the 18-hole Coal Creek Golf Course. Main Street has a very small town feel with local restaurants and shopping.
Niwot – An enchanting and vintage community (with a population of 4,000 in 4 square miles) combining a rich historical past and a contemporary distinction as a vibrant arts community. Second Avenue in Old Town Niwot is a designated Historic District.
Superior – 13,000 residents (living in a town that is just 4 square miles) call Superior home.
Superior Marketplace retail center features Super Target, Costco, Whole Foods, PetSmart and numerous other retailers and restaurants. The town has about 60 acres of open space, more than a handful of parks and 29 miles of trails. The Superior Town Center is finally taking shape with a hotel, housing and the Sport Stable facility.
Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) stretches from the peaks of the Contintental Divide to the suburbs on Denver.

St. Vrain Valley School District is the educational home of more than 30,000 of Colorado’s students. The eighth largest school district in the state, St. Vrain Valley operates 53 schools that are spread over 411 square miles. The makeup of the schools include: 1 Stand Alone Preschool, 26 Elementary, 2 K-8, 7 Middle, 1 Middle/Senior, 8 High, 1 Alternative, and 6 Charter.
Located approximately 30 miles north of Denver, the District is geographically diverse. Its physical boundaries extend from the Continental Divide into the plains of Colorado. Adding to its scenic setting are historic downtown Longmont and the backdrop of Rocky Mountain National Park and Longs Peak.
There are 13 different communities that makeup St. Vrain Valley School District: eastern Boulder, Broomfield, Dacono, Erie, Firestone, Frederick, Hygiene, Longmont, Lyons, Mead, Niwot, Peaceful Valley, and Raymond. Parts of Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer, and Weld Counties fall within its boundaries.
