Let’s focus on seniors in our community for a moment. The Boulder County Area Agency on Aging released their report on Aging Trends in Boulder County. This report is a first step towards the 2020 Age Well Boulder County Strategic Plan. I thought I would highlight a few items from this fairly extensive report.
- Aging services providers see demand outpacing supply in certain areas. This goes along with the fact that our housing stock is not really designed for an aging population (ranch style/low maintenance).
- More than one in three older adults in Boulder County have problems maintaining their homes as they age.
- Demand for aging-related health, social, and supportive services will increase for 30 more years.
